In May 2025, the 9th China Fluorosilicon Industry Conference successfully concluded in Baotou City, Inner Mongolia. As an annual industry event, this conference, with the theme of "Technology Empowerment, Production Chain Collaboration, and Building the Future Together", attracted more than 500 representatives of upstream and downstream enterprises, research institutions, and industry experts in the fluorosilicon industry chain from across the country. During the conference, the organic silicon session became the focus, with 12 technical reports covering cutting-edge fields such as high-performance materials, green processes, and new energy applications, revealing the industry's path to breakthrough through innovation under the pressure of overcapacity.

Technological breakthroughs lead to industrial upgrading
The "high-performance polydimethylsiloxane material containing dynamic bonds" developed by Professor Li Qifang's team at Beijing University of Chemical Technology has become a hot topic. This material achieves self-healing and high elasticity compatibility by introducing reversible chemical bonds, demonstrating the potential to replace traditional silicone rubber in the field of flexible electronic packaging. The "high-strength flowing electronic sealant" launched by Jiangxi Blue Star Xinghuo Organic Silicon Co., Ltd. solves the contradiction between heat dissipation and sealing of 5G base stations. Its thermal conductivity has been increased to 3.5W/m · K, which is 40% higher than the previous generation product.

Parallel optimization of production capacity and green transformation
Faced with the challenge of a year-on-year decline of 0.6 percentage points in the average net profit margin of 21 listed organic silicon companies in China in 2024, the industry is accelerating the elimination of outdated production capacity. Su Baogang, General Manager of Inner Mongolia Jin'ebo Fluorine Chemical Co., Ltd., revealed at the meeting that its 8 hydrofluoric acid production lines located in Barun Chemical Park use low-grade fluorite resources and achieve mass production of first-class hydrofluoric acid through original catalytic technology, reducing unit energy consumption by 18%. Expert Zhang Yang from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment pointed out that the fluorosilicon industry has completely phased out 29 substances containing POPs. The next step is to establish a localized control list for PFAS and promote the screening of high-risk substances by 2027.

The regional cluster effect is highlighted
Baotou relies on the advantage of rare earth resources to build a full industry chain of "silicon ore metal silicon organic silicon monomer deep processing". Yichang, supported by Xingfa Group's billion dollar silicon-based new materials project, has formed an annual production capacity of 800000 tons of monomers, becoming the largest organic silicon production base in the country. The two regions signed six cross regional cooperation agreements through the conference platform, involving joint research and development of gas-phase silica and waste recycling, marking the industry's shift from single point breakthroughs to system collaboration.
