Silicon based New Materials Technology Innovation Conference held in Hangzhou: seeking new paths for green development

Hangzhou, China, April 25, 2025- The three-day 2025 Asian Silicon Technology Conference and Exhibition (AST2025) concluded in Binjiang, Hangzhou. Representatives from over 600 companies and research institutions from 32 countries around the world gathered together to discuss the sustainable development of the organic silicon industry under the theme of "Green Reconstruction and Technological Fission".

Biobased materials become the focus
At the main forum, the "Roadmap for Biobased Silicon Materials Technology" released by the Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences has attracted attention. The report predicts that by 2030, biobased silane will occupy 30% of the global market share, and agricultural waste such as rice husk and sugarcane bagasse will become the main raw materials. The Brazilian Sugarcane Industry Association has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Hesheng Silicon Industry, planning to build 10 bio based methanol production bases in South America.

Rich practice of circular economy
During the conference, the "Silicone Rubber Urban Mining" project showcased by Guangzhou Development Zone was refreshing. By establishing a nationwide recycling network, the area processes 20000 tons of waste silicone rubber annually, and the performance of recycled silicone rubber reaches 95% of raw materials. The relevant technology has been exported to Southeast Asian countries. The closed-loop production experience shared by Wacker Chemie in Germany shows that its Zhangjiagang factory has reduced the discharge of single ton product wastewater by 80% through a solvent recovery system.

Digital tools empower transformation
The digital twin platform demonstrated by the "Industrial Brain" team in Yongxiu County can simulate the real-time operation status of the organic silicon industry chain, providing data support for policy formulation. The "Silicon Industry Intelligent Brain" AI model launched by Alibaba Cloud can predict fluctuations in raw material prices and help companies optimize their procurement strategies. According to calculations, the application of digital tools can reduce inventory costs by 25% and shorten order delivery cycles by 40% for enterprises.

Deepening international cooperation
In the project signing process, Chinese and Russian enterprises have reached multiple cooperation agreements: Russian Union Aluminum Industry will jointly build a silicon aluminum composite material production line with China Blue Star Group, and the products will be used in the aerospace field; Kazakhstan National Atomic Energy Corporation collaborates with Dongyue Group to develop nuclear grade silicone rubber sealing materials, breaking foreign technological monopolies. Vice Minister of Commerce Wang Shouwen said, "We will continue to lower the entry threshold for foreign investment and welcome global enterprises to participate in the green transformation of China's silicon industry
