On June 19, 2025, the 3rd Organic Silicon Technology and Application Innovation Forum with the theme of "Silicon Heart Gathering Strength, Leading the New Journey" concluded in Shanghai. More than 200 experts from research institutes, universities, and enterprises gathered together to explore the innovative applications of organic silicon materials in fields such as 5G communication, new energy, and medical health, and released the "Organic Silicon Industry Yearbook (2025 Edition)".


Frontier technologies make a concentrated appearance
On the forum, multiple breakthrough technologies have attracted attention. The "photo induced twin polymerization" organic silicon preparation technology developed by Professor Zhang Qinghua's team at Zhejiang University has increased the material's transmittance to 92% through molecular level innovation, which can meet the stringent requirements of flexible display screens; Professor Bai Yongping's team from Harbin Institute of Technology demonstrated the "preparation technology of organic silicon pressure-sensitive adhesive", which has a peel strength of 5N/cm and has been applied to the sealing of Tesla Model Y battery packs.


The medical and health field has become a hot topic
With the intensification of population aging, the application of organic silicon materials in the medical field has become a focus. Professor Wu Jinrong from Sichuan University pointed out that "fluorine/silicon composite materials have unique advantages in implantable medical devices. For example, polylactic acid/silicone rubber composite materials can be completely degraded in the human body within 6 months, and the market potential is huge." Data shows that the medical grade silicone market will reach 8 billion yuan in 2025, with a compound annual growth rate of 12%.


Cross border integration gives birth to new business models
The forum has set up a "Organic Silicon+AI" innovation laboratory to showcase a series of cross-border achievements. For example, the "silicon-based immersion coolant" developed by Ningbo Runhe High tech Materials Technology Co., Ltd. optimizes its molecular structure through AI algorithms, increasing the heat dissipation efficiency of data center servers by 40%; Professor Tang Hongding's team at Wuhan University has developed a "polydimethylsiloxane vitreous body" for ophthalmic surgery, with a clinical success rate of 98%.


Dual wheel drive of policy and market
According to the "In depth Analysis and Development Prospect Forecast Report of China's Organic Silicon Industry Market from 2025 to 2030" by Zhongyan Puhua, the demand proportion of the three major fields of new energy, electronic appliances, and medical health will increase from 35% in 2024 to 55% in 2030. At the same time, during the 15th Five Year Plan period, environmental standards will continue to tighten. For example, after 2026, newly built production capacity must meet the requirement that the energy consumption per unit product is less than 1.2 tons of standard coal per ton, otherwise production permits cannot be obtained.


Enterprise dynamics and industry outlook
During the forum, multiple companies released strategic plans. Eken Organic Silicon announced an investment of 500 million yuan to build a Shanghai R&D center, focusing on the research and development of high-purity silane coupling agents for semiconductors; Chengdu Silicon Treasure Technology has signed a cooperation agreement with ZTE to jointly develop thermal conductive silicone for 5G base stations. The attending experts unanimously believe that in the next five years, the organic silicon industry will shift from "cost internalization" to "scenario definition rights" competition, and enterprises that master core technologies such as molecular design and composite modification will dominate the market.
