In the third quarter of 2025, the demand side of China's organic silicon industry presents a "dual sky" pattern: the growth rate of the traditional construction adhesive market slows down to 2%, while the demand in the new energy and medical fields surged by 22% year-on-year. According to industry associations, from January to September, the consumption of high-end products such as photovoltaic adhesive and electronic adhesive accounted for 38%, an increase of 8 percentage points from 2024, becoming the core driving force for industry growth.


In the field of new energy, the application scenarios of organic silicon materials continue to expand. The polylactic acid/silicone rubber composite material developed by a leading enterprise can completely degrade in the human body within 6 months. It has entered the clinical trial stage of medical devices and is expected to achieve large-scale production by 2026. In terms of new energy vehicles, the demand for battery pack sealant has exploded, requiring products to pass UL94 V-0 flame retardant testing and increase the thermal conductivity from 0.2W/m · K to 1.5W/m · K. Data shows that the market size of automotive organic silicone will reach 12 billion yuan by 2025, with a compound annual growth rate of over 18%.


The healthcare sector has also shown impressive performance. The application of liquid silicone rubber (LSR) in insulin pumps and wearable medical devices has increased by 500% year-on-year, and its biocompatibility certification barriers are expected to be completely dismantled within five years. The shape memory silicone rubber artificial muscle developed by an innovative laboratory has been commercialized, driving a surge in demand for functional materials in the medical robotics industry.


Faced with changes in demand structure, industry leaders are accelerating their layout in the high-end market. A certain enterprise has increased the thermal conductivity of silicone rubber/graphene composite materials to 5W/m · K through "molecular design+composite modification" technology, which is 25 times higher than traditional materials. The gross profit margin of the product is 15-20 percentage points higher than the industry average. Analysts predict that by 2030, the proportion of demand in the three major fields of new energy, electronic appliances, and medical health will increase from 35% in 2024 to 55%, becoming a key direction for the transformation and upgrading of the organic silicon industry.
