Jiangsu, China, December 12, 2025- The "large-scale oil fire fighting test of aerogel fire extinguishing agent" carried out by Anhua New Material Technology (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. in conjunction with Tianjin Fire Research Institute of Emergency Management Department and Sinopec was successfully held in a chemical park in Jiangsu. In the test, the air gel extinguishing agent was sprayed with a single nozzle, and the 100 square meter oil pool fire was completely extinguished in only 1 minute and 30 seconds, and there was no subsequent rekindling, marking a major breakthrough in the field of new fire extinguishing technology in China.


Experimental scenario: Simulating the ultimate conditions of petrochemical fire
The experiment used a large oil pan with a diameter of 11.5 meters and injected 3 tons of gasoline and diesel mixed fuel. After ignition, the fire quickly entered a high-intensity combustion state. Under professional monitoring, after spraying the air gel extinguishing agent, the open fire was completely suppressed in 1 minute and 30 seconds, the flame height dropped from 3 meters to zero, and the oil surface temperature dropped from 800 ℃ to below 100 ℃. The monitoring data shows that the amount of extinguishing agent is 40% less than that of traditional foam extinguishing agent, and the density of the covering layer is increased by 60%, effectively blocking the contact between oxygen and combustibles.


Technical principle: Porous structure achieves dual fire extinguishing of "oxygen isolation+heat absorption"
The core advantage of aerogel fire extinguishing agent is its high specific surface area and nano porous structure. At the test site, a small multi-function emergency rescue vehicle equipped with aerogel extinguishing agent was simultaneously displayed. This model has the characteristics of compact structure and strong maneuverability, and can be quickly deployed in confined space scenarios such as chemical parks and tunnels. The vehicle is equipped with an intelligent spray system that can automatically adjust the spray angle and flow rate according to the fire, significantly improving emergency response efficiency.


Industry significance: providing new solutions for fire safety in high-risk areas
Experts from the Emergency Management Department said that this test verified the technical feasibility of aerogel extinguishing agent in fighting large-scale oil fires and provided more efficient fire protection solutions for high-risk industries such as petrochemical industry and aviation fuel storage. According to statistics, there are more than 100 fire accidents in China's chemical industry parks every year. The promotion and application of aerogel fire extinguishing technology is expected to reduce the fire extinguishing response time by more than 50%, significantly reducing casualties and property losses.
