On January 24, 2026, Wuhan, Hubei - At the "2026 Organic Silicon and Epoxy New Material Technology Innovation Forum", ethyl silicone oil became a focal point of discussion. Experts from Wuhan University, Wuhan University of Technology, Wacker Chemie, Xinyuan Chemie and other institutions conducted discussions on topics such as "ultra-low temperature resistant ethyl silicone oil" and "medical grade product development", attracting over 500 industry professionals to participate.


Low temperature resistant technology: solving extreme environmental problems
Yu Pengfei, the business unit manager of Xinyuan Chemical (Shandong) Co., Ltd., pointed out in the report that "traditional ethyl silicone oil will quickly solidify below -60 ℃, but by introducing fluorine element modification, the freezing point of the fluorinated ethyl silicone oil we developed can be as low as -120 ℃, and it has been used in the hydraulic system of Arctic scientific research ships." The data shows that since its launch one year ago, the product has occupied 40% of the domestic high-end low-temperature resistant silicone oil market.


Medical field: from auxiliary materials to core components
The forum disclosed for the first time that the application of ethyl silicone oil in medical devices is extending from lubricants to functional materials. For example, the "ethyl silicone oil based drug sustained-release film" developed by a certain enterprise can achieve precise drug release by regulating its molecular structure, demonstrating potential in the field of tumor treatment. A professor from the School of Materials Science and Technology at Wuhan University of Technology said, "The biocompatibility and chemical stability of ethyl silicone oil make it an ideal candidate for medical polymer materials, but key issues such as purification processes and long-term toxicity assessments need to be addressed


Industrial chain collaboration: acceleration of upstream and downstream linkage
During the forum, multiple companies signed cooperation agreements. Among them, Anhui Aiyota has reached a strategic cooperation with a biotechnology company in Wuhan to jointly develop ethyl silicone oil raw materials for medical aesthetics; Jiangxi Huahao Chemical announced that it will use its newly built 15000 tons/year organic silicon material project to provide customized ethyl silicone oil products for downstream enterprises. The Secretary General of the China Silicon Industry Alliance pointed out that with the rise of emerging industries such as new energy vehicles and 5G communication, the market demand for ethyl silicone oil will be further segmented, and collaborative innovation in the industry chain is the key to breaking through technological bottlenecks. ”


Standard setting: promoting the standardized development of the industry
In response to the issue of inconsistent standards in the ethyl silicone oil market, the forum initiated the establishment of the "China Ethyl Silicone Oil Standardization Technical Committee", which involves universities, enterprises, and testing institutions to jointly develop product quality standards. The first batch of documents drafted by the committee, such as "Technical Requirements for Industrial Grade Ethyl Silicone Oil" and "Safety Specification for Ethyl Silicone Oil Used in Cosmetics", will be publicly solicited for opinions in the second half of 2026.


Market outlook: Blue ocean worth billions to be explored
It is predicted that by 2030, the global market size of ethyl silicone oil is expected to exceed 10 billion US dollars, with China accounting for 50%. Experts attending the meeting believe that with technological iteration and expanded application scenarios, ethyl silicone oil will leap from a "niche special material" to an important growth pole in the field of organosilicon.
