On February 27, 2026, in the field of organic silicon new materials, China once again received heavy good news. Today, a leading domestic silicone production enterprise announced that its independently developed "ultra-low cyclic ethyl vinyl silicone oil" production line is officially operating at full capacity, with an annual production capacity exceeding 12000 tons. This breakthrough marks that China has successfully overcome the technical pain point of "high ring content" in the field of high-end organic silicon basic raw materials, completely breaking away from its long-term dependence on high-end products from the European Union and Japan.
It is reported that ethyl silicone oil (especially vinyl modified silicone oil) is the core basic polymer for manufacturing high-performance liquid silicone rubber (LSR), additive silicone rubber, and electronic packaging materials. For a long time, the residual cyclic siloxane (D4-D10) content in ethyl silicone oil produced by traditional processes has been high, which not only leads to the generation of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in downstream products during the secondary vulcanization process, but also makes it difficult to meet the strict environmental standards of the EU REACH regulation and medical grade and infant product grade.
The core of this technological breakthrough lies in the innovation of catalyst systems and the upgrading of distillation processes, "said the chief engineer of the project. The R&D team spent three years introducing a new potassium catalyzed system, combined with multi-stage molecular sieve adsorption technology, to control the content of ring compounds in the finished product below 50ppm, far below the internationally recognized 300ppm standard. At the same time, the new process has reduced energy consumption by 20%, achieving true green manufacturing.
Market analysis indicates that with the explosive growth of the new energy vehicle, flexible electronics, and medical device industries, the global demand for high-quality low ring ethyl silicone oil is expected to reach 180000 tons by 2026. The commissioning of the domestically produced 10000 ton production line not only reduces the procurement cost of related materials in China by about 30%, but also provides a solid raw material guarantee for China's organic silicon industry chain to climb to the high-end of the value chain. At present, the product has been verified by multiple leading automotive parts manufacturers and medical consumables enterprises, and has been officially supplied in bulk.
Industry experts believe that this achievement is a crucial step for China to move from a "silicone giant" to a "silicone powerhouse", indicating that domestic high-end ethyl silicone oil will occupy a more important position in the global market share in the next two years.
