Ethyl silicone oil is playing an increasingly crucial role in the bottleneck problem of heat dissipation in aerospace electronic equipment. On January 31, 2026, Shenzhen Debang Interface Materials Co., Ltd. officially applied for a patent for "Thermal Conductive Silicone Resin and Its Preparation Method for Aerospace Electronic Equipment". One of its core components is ethyl silicone oil (viscosity 50-1000 mPa · s, dosage 3-8 parts), combined with phenyl silicone oil, modified silicone oil, and nanoscale zinc oxide, aiming to provide efficient heat dissipation solutions for electronic equipment in extreme space environments.


Ethyl silicone oil (CAS number 63148-61-8, chemical name polydiethylsiloxane) was selected due to its excellent physical and chemical properties: the working temperature range covers -60 ° C to 150 ° C, the flash point exceeds 265 ° C (open cup), the vapor pressure is extremely low (only 0.532mmHg at 25 ° C), the volatility is low, the surface tension is low, and it can be freely miscible with mineral oils and fats. Compared to dimethyl silicone oil, ethyl silicone oil has more outstanding low-temperature resistance and lubrication performance, making it an ideal base oil for aerospace grade thermal conductive materials.


It is worth noting that domestic enterprises have continued to deepen their research and development in the field of ethyl silicone oil. Yu Pengfei, the business unit manager of Xinyuan Chemical (Shandong) Co., Ltd., gave a keynote speech at the 2024 Organic Silicon Fine Chemicals Technology Exchange Conference, focusing on the preparation and performance research of ultra-low temperature resistant ethyl silicone oil and fluorinated silicone oil. The company has obtained 20 national invention patents and is currently the only high-tech enterprise in China with a full industry chain production line for fluorinated silicone materials.


The current market for ethyl silicone oil is in a period of rapid expansion. According to research data from Bezos Consulting, the market size of ethyl hydrogen silicone oil in China has reached 274 million yuan in 2024, with a global market size of 1.092 billion yuan. It is expected that the global market size will climb to 1.865 billion yuan by 2030. From aerospace to precision instruments, from hydraulic oil to release agents, the application scope of ethyl silicone oil is accelerating expansion.
