The wave of liquid cooling in data centers is surging, and a key material patent is injecting new momentum into this heat dissipation revolution.


According to the latest announcement of the China National Intellectual Property Administration, Jiangxi Chenguang New Material Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Chenguang New Material") has officially been granted an invention patent entitled "Alkyl silicone oil for immersion cooling medium of data center and its preparation method" (authorization announcement No. CN118772409B). The patent was developed by a team of six people including Ding Bing, Shi Bo, and Liang Qiuhong. It was applied for on July 22, 2024 and took nearly two years to finally land.


Low temperature non solidification, performance jumps to the forefront. The core breakthrough of the patent lies in the fact that the alkyl silicone oil can maintain clarity, transparency, and good fluidity even at -30 ℃, far exceeding the extreme working condition of traditional silicone oil at -50 ℃, which means it can be competent in more extreme application scenarios. More importantly, its preparation process controls the residual SiH content below 1ppm, and the purity index directly targets the high-end market.


This is not an isolated breakthrough of Morning Light New Materials. The current silicone oil market is in a period of price bottoming out - according to data from Longzhong Information, as of June 8, 2026, the negotiated price of dimethyl silicone oil in China has fallen back to the range of 15800-17500 yuan/ton, continuing to decline from 16300 yuan/ton in May. Under the loosening of market transactions, technological barriers have become the only weapon for enterprises to break through.


Chenguang New Materials' revenue in 2025 is 1.104 billion yuan. Although it ranks 7th among 11 comparable companies in the functional silane industry, its patent reserves are already considerable. Up to now, the company has recently laid out 18 invention patents, covering multiple tracks such as photovoltaic adhesive film, aerogel, silane polymer, etc., and its R&D density is among the best in the industry.


Immersion cooling in data centers is a microcosm of the transition of silicone oil from traditional lubricants and cosmetics to high value-added emerging fields. This material revolution has just begun.
