Recently, several leading rubber product companies in China have completed formula iteration, replacing traditional petroleum based plasticizers with ethyl silicone oil as the core plasticizer. While improving product flexibility and processing performance, they have achieved low volatility, non corrosive and environmentally friendly upgrades in the production process.
Traditional rubber plasticizers generally suffer from high volatility and poor compatibility with fillers, while ethyl silicone oil, with its unique molecular structure of polydiethylsiloxane, can effectively weaken the aggregation force between rubber molecular chains, reduce the glass transition temperature and elastic modulus of rubber, improve the smoothness of mixing and cutting processing, and simultaneously enhance the elongation at break and tensile strength of vulcanized rubber. In the mass production testing of conductive silicone rubber, adding an appropriate amount of ethyl silicone oil not only significantly reduces the modulus, but also increases the overall service life by more than 30%.
With its non-toxic and chemically stable properties, ethyl silicone oil fully complies with current environmental regulations and safety production requirements in China. Currently, it has been widely applied in multiple segmented scenarios such as tire manufacturing, special seals, and flexible electronic rubber accessories. Industry reports show that the demand for ethyl silicone oil in the domestic rubber processing industry will increase by 42% year-on-year in 2026. With the upgrading of downstream high-end rubber products, the market penetration rate of ethyl silicone oil as an environmentally friendly special plasticizer will continue to increase.
