Recently, several domestic special chemical material companies jointly released the application upgrade results of ethyl silicone oil. This special silicone oil, which is composed of polydiethylsiloxane as the core component, has officially become the core material for lubrication and protection of industrial equipment in extremely cold environments due to its solidification point as low as -70 ℃ and wide temperature range performance spanning from -70 ℃ to 150 ℃.
According to industry technicians, the viscosity temperature coefficient of ethyl silicone oil is much better than that of traditional dimethyl silicone oil. It does not experience sudden viscosity increase or lubrication failure in low temperature environments, and has the characteristics of low surface tension, low volatility, and excellent dielectric properties. It can be miscible with mineral oil and synthetic lubricating oil at will. Previously, outdoor precision instruments, hydraulic systems, and aviation shock absorbers in high-altitude regions such as Northeast and Northwest China have long faced pain points such as lubricant solidification and equipment jamming at low temperatures in winter. Many scenarios can only rely on imported special low-temperature lubricants to maintain operation.
With the continuous maturity of domestic ethyl silicone oil production technology, mainstream products have achieved high-purity control of over 99%, with heavy metal impurity content as low as 1ppm, fully meeting the usage standards of high-end scenarios such as electrical insulation, precision instrument damping, and special hydraulic oil. The relevant production enterprises stated that the low-temperature resistant ethyl silicone oil optimized by the formula has completed continuous on-site testing for 6 months in outdoor monitoring equipment in Mohe and other places. The equipment failure rate has been reduced by 87% compared to using traditional lubricants, completely solving the material adaptation problem under extreme cold conditions.
Industry experts point out that with the continuous promotion of polar scientific research and infrastructure construction in high-altitude regions in China, ethyl silicone oil, as a versatile low-temperature lubricating material, will be widely applied in more high-end scenarios such as aerospace electronic heat dissipation and special vehicle protection in the future, providing key material support for industrial operation in extreme environments.
