Ethyl silicone oil: the hidden champion of industrial lubrication and insulation

Hits: 908 img

Ethyl silicone oil, also known as polydiethylsiloxane, is an organic silicon polymer with ethyl as the side chain. In its molecular structure, silicon atoms are connected by oxygen bridges to form long chains, and the ethyl groups on the side chains endow it with unique physical and chemical properties: wide temperature resistance range (-70 ℃ to 150 ℃), strong chemical stability, excellent lubricity, and outstanding dielectric properties. These characteristics make it an indispensable 'versatile' in the industrial field.

Ethyl silicone oil is an ideal release agent in rubber and plastic processing. Its low surface tension characteristic can prevent the product from adhering to the mold, while its non-toxic and non corrosive characteristics ensure production safety. In the electrical industry, ethyl silicone oil is widely used as an impregnating agent for equipment such as transformers and capacitors. Its high resistivity (above 10 ¹⁴Ω· cm) and arc resistance can effectively improve the insulation performance of equipment and extend its service life. In addition, ethyl silicone oil can be formulated into instrument oil, hydraulic oil, and special lubricating oil to meet the lubrication needs of precision machinery.

In terms of production process, ethyl silicone oil reacts with chloroethane and magnesium metal to generate ethyl Grignard reagent, which then reacts with ethyl orthosilicate to produce ethyl ethoxysilane. The final product is obtained through hydrolysis condensation, molecular rearrangement, and vacuum distillation. The packaging is made of coated iron drums or 10KG plastic drums, which should be moisture-proof, sun proof, and avoid acid-base contact. The storage period can reach 3 years.
