Shandong, China, July 15, 2025- With the successful production of the first bio based silicone rubber product, Shandong Hesheng Silicone Industry announced the official launch of the world's first 10000 ton bio based silicone rubber production line. This project adopts the rice husk to produce highly active silane technology developed by the Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, marking the complete elimination of petroleum raw material dependence in the organic silicon industry and entering a new era of green manufacturing.

Technological breakthrough to break through the bottleneck of raw materials
Traditional silicone rubber production relies on the methanol metal silicon route, but fluctuations in crude oil prices and carbon emission pressures are becoming increasingly prominent. The new production line uses agricultural waste rice husk as raw material and extracts silicon element through gasification catalytic conversion process, which can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 4.2 tons per ton of product. Professor Wang, the head of the technical team, introduced, "Our developed nanoscale silane catalyst has increased the reaction conversion rate to 98% and reduced unit energy consumption by 40% compared to traditional processes

Collaborative construction of green ecology in industrial chain
To ensure the supply of raw materials, Hesheng Silicon Industry has reached a strategic cooperation with Brazilian sugarcane plantations, using sugarcane bagasse to produce bio based methanol, forming a closed-loop industrial chain of "agricultural waste silane silicone rubber". In the terminal application stage, the enterprise has jointly established a joint laboratory with home appliance giants such as Midea and Gree to develop biodegradable silicone rubber sealing rings. The application of this product in Haier refrigerators has passed the T Ü V certification in Germany.

Market response exceeds expectations
Although the price of bio based products is 15% higher than traditional materials, the first batch of 5000 ton orders were still sold out by European and American customers. The purchasing director of an international medical device company said, "Our insulin pump needs to meet biocompatibility and low-carbon requirements, and this material happens to meet both standards at the same time." It is predicted that the global market size of bio based silicone rubber will exceed 8 billion yuan by 2026, with a compound annual growth rate of 35%.

Policy dividends accelerate technology popularization
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's "15th Five Year Plan for High Quality Development of New Materials Industry" clearly states that by 2028, the proportion of bio based materials in organic silicon consumption needs to be increased to 20%. To this end, the National Manufacturing Transformation and Upgrading Fund has injected 2 billion yuan into Hesheng Silicon Industry to support its layout of 5 biobased material bases across the country. Liu Qiang, Director of the Shandong Provincial Development and Reform Commission, revealed, "We are formulating a special subsidy policy to provide a 30% return on procurement costs to enterprises that use bio based silicone rubber

Industry Impact: According to a report by the China Research Institute Puhua Industry Research Institute, breakthroughs in bio based technology will reshape the global competition landscape for organic silicon. The advantages of Chinese enterprises in raw material control and cost optimization are expected to propel China from being the largest producer to becoming a technology standard setter.
