In July 2025, the world's first 10000 ton bio based silicone rubber production line was officially put into operation in Shandong, China, marking a crucial step for the organic silicon industry in the field of green transformation. This production line uses agricultural waste such as rice husks as raw materials, and through the high activity silane technology developed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the raw material cost is compressed to a level close to traditional petroleum based routes, while achieving zero carbon emissions in the production process.
According to industry experts' analysis, the breakthrough of bio based silicone rubber not only solves the dependence of the silicone industry on petroleum resources, but also meets the environmental protection needs under the global "dual carbon" goal. The recent "carbon footprint tracing" investigation launched by the European Union on Chinese photovoltaic adhesive products shows that bio based materials can reduce carbon emissions throughout the product lifecycle by 40%, becoming a core technology for addressing international trade barriers. At present, the production line has signed supply agreements with multiple new energy enterprises, and it is expected to export a batch of sealant products that meet carbon tariff standards to the European market in the fourth quarter of 2025.
At the technical level, the tensile strength of bio based silicone rubber reaches 15MPa, and the thermal conductivity is increased to 1.8W/m · K, which can meet the sealing requirements of new energy vehicle battery packs in extreme temperature difference environments from -40 ℃ to 85 ℃. Industry institutions predict that with the maturity of biobased technology, the global biobased organic silicon market size will exceed 30 billion yuan by 2030, with a compound annual growth rate of 25%.
