Domestic green synthesis technology for ethyl silicone oil has achieved significant breakthroughs, reducing energy consumption by 35% and supporting high-end localization

On July 8, 2026, there was a significant technological advancement in the field of organic silicon materials in China. Several leading ethyl silicone oil production enterprises in China, together with research and development teams from universities, officially released the experimental results of the "Solid Super Acid Coupled Microchannel Continuous Flow Synthesis Process". This technology has broken through the long-term bottleneck of traditional intermittent catalytic processes, achieving an increase in the conversion rate of ethylcyclosiloxane (D4Et) to over 98.5%, and a stable control of the product polydispersity index in the range of 1.15~1.25. While significantly improving product uniformity, the energy consumption in the production process is directly reduced by 35%.


According to the industry technical leader, the traditional production of ethyl silicone oil relies on intermittent reaction devices for a long time, which not only has a long reaction cycle and high energy consumption, but also easily leads to uneven distribution of product molecular weight, making it difficult to meet the strict requirements of high-end scenarios such as electronic and automotive standards. This new process achieves precise mixing and temperature control of materials through microchannel reactors, combined with in-situ bonding antioxidant and nanocomposite modification technology, effectively solving the long-standing bottleneck of high-temperature oxidation stability and interface functionalization in the industry.


Benefiting from technological breakthroughs, the domestic ethyl silicone oil industry is accelerating its transformation towards value driven. Previously, the dependence on imported high-end electronic grade ethyl silicone oil in China was as high as 67%. With the implementation of new processes, the product performance of high-end refined production capacity in the Yangtze River Delta has gradually reached the international advanced level. The progress of localization verification in emerging fields such as new energy 800V high-pressure platform coolant and semiconductor advanced process cleaning has significantly accelerated. According to industry estimates, the demand for emerging applications of ethyl silicone oil in the domestic market will increase from 50000 tons to 105000 tons from 2026 to 2030, with an average annual compound growth rate of 20.6%. The output growth rate will be significantly higher than the volume growth rate.
