Breakthrough in low-temperature performance technology of domestic ethyl silicone oil, further expanding the application scenarios of new energy vehicles

Recently, there have been new developments in the field of organic silicon materials in China. Anhui Mingyi Silicon Industry Co., Ltd. has collaborated with local university material laboratories to optimize the formula and upgrade the mass production process of ultra-low temperature resistant ethyl silicone oil. The upgraded product can maintain stable lubrication and insulation performance in an environment of -75 ℃, far exceeding the conventional working limit of traditional ethyl silicone oil at -60 ℃. At the same time, the chemical stability and thermal conductivity efficiency have increased by 12% compared to before, which can directly adapt to the battery temperature control system and electronic component insulation protection needs of new energy vehicles in high-altitude areas.
According to industry research data, the demand for high viscosity ethyl silicone oil in the automotive industry in China has reached 28000 tons by 2024. With the rapid growth of new energy vehicles in high-altitude regions, the market gap for ethyl silicone oil with ultra-low temperature performance continues to widen. After this technological breakthrough, the leading domestic ethyl silicone oil production enterprises have formed a full chain production capacity from basic silicone monomers to terminal functional products, with R&D investment accounting for more than 4.5%. East and South China, as the core industrial clusters in China, occupy 42.3% and 28.7% of the market share, respectively. At present, the new type of ethyl silicone oil has passed material testing by multiple leading new energy vehicle companies, and is expected to be officially supplied in bulk in the fourth quarter of 2026, which will further reduce the import dependence of domestic high-end automotive special silicone oil.
