Green production technology landing in the ethyl silicone oil industry ushers in an era of high-purity products at affordable prices

In August 2026, several domestic silicone oil production enterprises announced the completion of the full process transformation of green synthesis technology for ethyl silicone oil. By optimizing the Grignard reaction and hydrolysis condensation process, the energy consumption and three waste emissions in the production process were significantly reduced. At the same time, the production cost of 99% high-purity ethyl silicone oil was reduced by nearly 40% compared to before, directly driving the mainstream product prices in the market to a reasonable range. The procurement costs of downstream industries such as electronics, pharmaceuticals, and daily chemical products were significantly optimized.


Previously, the production of high-purity ethyl silicone oil was long constrained by purification process bottlenecks, with a tight supply of high-end grade products in the market and high prices, which to some extent limited its widespread application in pharmaceutical intermediates, high-end cosmetic raw materials, electronic grade insulation materials, and other scenarios. This new process achieves efficient separation of different viscosity ethyl silicone oils through precise control of molecular rearrangement and multi-stage vacuum distillation technology. The purity of products in sub categories such as low viscosity, cosmetic grade, and electronic grade has reached industry-leading standards. Currently, more than 100 suppliers in the industry have completed the shelving and supply of related products, and the number of different specifications of ethyl silicone oil products has exceeded 140.


Industry analysts say that with the continuous release of green production capacity, the ethyl silicone oil industry is bidding farewell to the past situation of "high-end products relying on niche supply". In the future, the penetration rate of traditional application scenarios such as downstream rubber processing, precision instruments, and electrical insulation will further increase. At the same time, the application of damping fluids in new energy equipment, special thermal conductive media and other emerging scenarios will also see rapid growth. The entire industry has officially entered a new stage of development with high quality and high cost-effectiveness.
