Recently, the national cosmetic raw material regulatory authority completed the compliance review of ethyl silicate as a conditioning agent, confirming its maximum historical usage in leave-on beauty products can reach 1%. This marks the formal commencement of compliant widespread application for this specialty material, previously predominantly used in industrial sectors, in beauty products such as face creams and lipsticks.
Previously, the domestic production capacity of ethyl silicone oil was primarily concentrated in Hubei, Shanghai, Jiangsu, and other regions. In the first half of 2026, multiple new purification production lines were added to the industry, resulting in an overall capacity increase of 62% compared to the same period last year. The raw material procurement costs have dropped by nearly 30% over the past three years. With the continuous expansion of downstream application scenarios, the product classification system for ethyl silicone oil has also gradually improved, ranging from small-scale reagents for scientific research to industrial barrel-packed materials at the hundred-kilogram level, forming a fully mature supply chain.
Industry analysts point out that as demand for ethyl silicone oil is simultaneously increasing across multiple sectors such as industrial lubrication, beauty and skincare, and gas chromatography carriers, the domestic market for ethyl silicone oil is projected to exceed 1.2 billion yuan by 2027, making it one of the fastest-growing segments in the specialty organic silicone materials sector.
