On August 28, 2026, Bengbu News reported that several leading domestic silicone manufacturers, in collaboration with industry-academia-research teams, announced a significant technological breakthrough in the green synthesis process of ethyl silicone oil. The newly developed non-hydrolytic sol-gel method combined with enzymatic catalysis completely replaces traditional acid-catalyzed modification techniques, achieving zero emissions of harmful byproducts during production while precisely controlling the molecular weight distribution index of the product within the 1.1-1.3 range, with performance reaching international advanced levels.
According to industry calculations, after the new process is implemented, energy efficiency in the production of ethyl silicone oil will improve by 30%, with specific energy consumption dropping below 1.2 tons of standard coal per unit. Combined with the new solvent recovery and intelligent quality control system, the first-time pass rate of products will increase to over 98%. Leveraging this technological advantage, domestic integrated industry leaders achieve a gross profit margin 8-12 percentage points higher than foreign peers, further accelerating the domestic substitution of high-end ethyl silicone oil. Currently, this technology has completed pilot-scale verification at production bases in Bengbu, Anhui, and other locations, with full-scale industry adoption expected by 2027.
Industry experts noted that with the surge in demand from downstream high-end sectors such as thermal management for new energy vehicles, 5G communication base station heat dissipation, and ultra-high voltage insulation, ethyl silicone oil products meeting green manufacturing standards will enjoy a 10%-15% green premium. This process breakthrough will drive the entire domestic ethyl silicone oil industry toward a high-value-added track.
